Instinctive Blender Reviewed By NewsForge
Saturday 9th April 2005Right on the heels of their recent review of Blender, NewsForge now has a review called instinctive-blender: A tasty 3D fork.
The degree of efficiency of Blender's user interface decreased markedly with the UI overhaul in Blender 2.30 in 2003. instinctive-blender's main purpose is to bring some of the efficiency of the old interface back.
I don't know about that. Where they may well have been some negitive impacts due to the interface change, I'd say the new 2.3+ Blender UI is leaps and bounds ahead of it predecessor. But each to their own...right. But they sum up with this statement, which is true and fair all round.
Despite its strong points, instinctive-blender isn't for everyone. If you are a new Blender user, you should probably stick to the official version, as it makes access to some functionality easier for newbies. But if you have used Blender for years and miss some of the efficiency of the previous UIs, you may be happy with the advanced features this fork has.
Personally I'm sticking with Blender. The improvements in the last few versions have been too great to look away from. Also, while instinctive-blender may be a great product, it doesn't have the numbers as far as developers go, so new features aren't going to be added that quickly.
instinctive-blender was forked and is under development by a German company called instinctive mediaworks.
