DCCCafe.com Likes Blender

Friday 2nd December 2005

Blender gets a mention from DCCCafe.com in an article titled - DCC goes open source – should you?.

In short, Blender is something everyone should be paying attention to. Because it is rapidly updated primarily by its users, it is quickly evolving into a very serious tool. Open source created a feasible alternative to the Windows/Apple dominance in operating systems. Maybe there will be an alternative, open source 3D modeler available as well. Only time will tell if Blender gets big enough, and developed enough, for it to be used professionally.

Thursday 1st December 2005

Ton has just posted the details about testing the pre-release of Blender 2.40.

To anticipate the 2.40 release, testing builds with release candidates are being uploaded in the testing build forum now.

During this final stage of the release cycle, no new functionality will be added in Blender. Focus is on testing and bug fixing only.

If you have the time, download a copy, do some testing and give some feedback.
